About Us

The ETKOL Scholarship Fund exists to help brilliant students from lower- and middle-class backgrounds get a university education.

We believe all students who desire a university education and are willing to put in the work should be able to get one. This especially includes talented and hard-working students from poor families, for whom the improvement in life outcomes due to education is often the greatest.

Despite the government-subsidized and relatively low tuition fees at most Nigerian federal universities, many students struggle to pay tuition every year and some drop out or don't go at all because they can't afford the fees. We ultimately aim to help some of these students cover the costs of their university education, helping them get started on their journey to a better life.

To start with in 2021, we are offering help to get over the line to five final-year scholars at the Obafemi Awolowo University. We will provide grants of N60,000 per student to five students towards their tuition or final year projects. We will also provide mentoring and introductions to help them transition from university into the next phase of their lives.

The scholarship is named after Reverend Edward Koye-Ladele and Pastor Taiwo Koye-Ladele, Christian ministers based in Ibadan, Oyo State.

WHO WE SERVE AND HOW

We currently serve final-year students of the Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU). In the future, we hope to be able to support students throughout their university education.

We currently award final-year scholarships in the form of a one-off grant to successful applicants. We also provide mentoring and support to successful applicants during their last year of university and as they transition into the world of work.
